Recording Options Crash : Workaround

At one of our customers installations we’ve encountered a severe problem with Loadrunner 11: when trying to open the “Recording Options” dialog, loadrunner crashes with an “abnormal termination” error.

While HP R&D is currently working to release a patch for this problem you can use the following workaround to disable “DFE” wich appears to be causing the problems:

  • Make sure VUGen is closed
  • Backup your QTWeb.lrp file (located at: \dat\protocols\QTWeb.lrp)
  • Open QTWeb.lrp file in a text editor
  • Find REC_OPTN_TAB_DLL and delete the reference to “DFEConfig.dll” (or “WebDFEConfig.dll”)
  • Find MULTI_REC_OPTN_TAB_DLL and delete the reference to “DFEConfig.dll” (or “WebDFEConfig.dll”)
  • Find RegenerateOptionsDll and delete the reference to “DFEConfig.dll” (or “WebDFEConfig.dll”)
  • Start VUGen and try it
